This video clip shows Obama speaking about his health care resolution ideas.
National Health Care or Pork-Barrel Maintenance
…The problem that plagues the health care system is not just a problem of the uninsured. Those who do have insurance have never had less security and stability than they do today. More and more Americans worry that if you move, lose your job, or change your job, you'll lose your health insurance too. More and more Americans pay their premiums, only to discover that their insurance company has dropped their coverage when they get sick, or won't pay the full cost of care. It happens every day. –Barack Obama
Today, in congress, a bill to make health care a public option is attempting to become law. This bill was a piece of the platform that brought Barack Obama to presidency. Obama originally wanted to create a public option to give everyone in the United States some kind of health care.
This would allow public and private insurers to survive without causing a huge shift to the new option. These new resolutions would cause no increase in your taxes and be funded by the resources within.
Also, those who have a pre-existing condition could no longer be dropped from their coverage. In addition to have guaranteed coverage, there would not be a cap to their coverage limiting their care.
To provide better preventative care, added pre-emptive testing and screenings would be granted to help catch disease before it becomes an even greater problem.
To this date, the president has: · Signed the Children’s Health Insurance Reauthorization Act on February 4, 2009, which provides quality health care to 11 million kids – 4 million who were previously uninsured. · The President’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act protect health coverage for 7 million Americans who lose their jobs through a 65 percent COBRA subsidy to make coverage affordable. · The Recovery Act also invests $19 billion in computerized medical records that will help to reduce costs and improve quality while ensuring patients’ privacy. · The Recovery Act also provides: · $1 billion for prevention and wellness to improve America’s health and help to reduce health care costs; · $1.1 billion for research to give doctors tools to make the best treatment decisions for their patients by providing objective information on the relative benefits of treatments; and · $500 million for health workforce to help train the next generation of doctors and nurses.
Teddy Roosevelt’s dream of health care reform has begun to come alive in this trying world. However, this dream will have to be compromised to become a reality.
In order to get this bill through Congress, Obama will have to sacrifice the integrity of the original platform on which he ran. He must allow countless unnecessary riders to be attached to it and let it glow like a Christmas tree.
With these sacrifices, the less fortunate public will be allowed to be covered and get fair medical coverage to hopefully better the general health of our country.
Burning Christmas Tree and Linus
In this trying world, there are those who make it their life purpose to make it a better one. One of these people is Barack Obama. He came from little and worked hard all the way to becoming the 44th president of the United States. However, when you are handed the single largest debt in United States history to “fix,” there is only so much you can do. Obama originally had this huge aggrandizing, vastly idealistic plan to make our health care in this country easily accessible and do more for the American public. This was soon shot down by our fantastic Congress. When the bill had finally been written, after almost a year of talk, it had already lost much of its original intent. Then when it was presented before Congress, it was picked apart piece by piece and amended and amended. What used to be a great vision had now become Teddy Roosevelt’s nightmare. This bill quickly began to be decorated by congressmen, who remained imprisoned in Washington D.C., instead of their own Christmas trees at home with their families. Soon, the bill was ablaze with lights and decoration, but when a tree has too many lights it can catch fire. Once it has begun to burn there is nothing to do but salvage what you can and move on from there. Obama is currently trying to move on. He realizes that original plan is nothing but a dream for now, but he is making do with what he has. It is as though the bill was his Christmas tree was the bill in Congress and now he is without a tree. He then goes to the local farm, but all they have is a scrawny little evergreen like the one in “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Although it is not the best tree, it will have to make do. It just needs a little love and care. Linus reminded this to us all when he placed his blue blanket around the tree to keep it warm. This blanket around the tree must be support from the people of the United States. If we are to get anything resolved in the way of health care or the economy or any issue we face, we must give some time and effort into finding a solution instead of just neglecting it.
